In the pink
I set aside today to catch up with writing cards and a few letters. My sister in law used to hate getting what she called “boast from the post” at Christmas. So I just type up short personalised messages to some friends and previous travel companions. It didn’t take long though my PC was playing up. I don’t know where the time has gone.
Time was taken up with trying to communicate with Specsavers and DVLA. I saw Specsavers over 2 months ago at the request of DVLA because of my suspected glaucoma. I noticed my licence expired a week ago and I’d not heard from them if I was classed fit to drive. To get in the queue to speak to someone first I had to decide if I needed a Welsh speaking person then fill in a form while being kept on hold. Eventually a real person told me the licence was in the post.
I made a birthday cake to take to Thomas, made lists of food shopping and menus for when we have guests next week.
Jo arrives on Tuesday but it’s all very busy till then. She’s driving from Penzance to her son near York but broke down yesterday and had to get towed away by the police so had a night in a hotel. She seems to be on the move again. She’s going to get to us by train from York.
I’m waiting for Trailfinders to get back to me. I’d prefer to go in the shop but on Saturdays when we are free, they have so few workers in that last time we had to wait ages.
I spotted these roses which I rescued before the predicted storm.
