Our Day

We were exhausted last night so everyone was in bed by 9:30. My body said it had enough sleep at 4:00 am. Why?? I read until 6:30 since others were still sleeping. The wind chill temp was 9°F when we got up. We had wind gusts up to 40 mph and snow showers. The wind chill got as low was -2°F. We stayed in except to take Sugar out for an occasional walk. After breakfast and coffee, my sister and I made this blueberry sour cream cake, some slaw for dinner and chicken salad for tomorrow’s lunch. We took the pot pie I made at home out of the freezer. It will serve as our main course for dinner. Then we started this year’s Christmas project. My niece tried to contact my children’s step mother after their father passed. I was hoping to get a few of his well worn shirts for this project. We found out last month that she did not respond because she also had passed. My sister had quietly collected the centerpiece cloths from his Celebration of Life event as back up material. I found a photo on Facebook of my children with their father. We used that to order ceramic disks for our project. We made the ornaments today. We are hoping everyone likes them. We have one for his remaining brother and one for his closest nephew so there are 15 in total. The children and grands deserve to have something to remember their father/grandfather. This is a simple ornament but it will probably mean a lot. Hubby took the photo with both of us girls. We seldom get in a photo together and we wanted to have something to show the kids about our project. The guys changed out an old fluorescent light in the basement to an LED fixture. Hubby read and our BIL spent some time outside. Our BIL picked up more Amazon packages from the neighbor. We wrapped those and what we bought yesterday. We are heading toward the home stretch. Wishing you great progress with your endeavors. Stay safe. Thanks for dropping by. “The smallest gift given with love and compassion is priceless.” - unknown
