Helping Hands
We had a free day and the winds have subsided. A tree fell across the dead end road past the farm so we decided to go cut it up and move the debris off the road. Folks have camps past the farm and need access but thru traffic cannot get far due to deep ruts in the road. Our 90 year old neighbor uses wood for fuel and she has none. Her son has been buying $5 bundles for her but they only last a day or so. He suffers with cancer and is not able to cut wood these days. Our BIL cut the wood in stove size lengths. The rest of us loaded it in the side by side or cut off the wild grape vine that was impeding access to the tree. We carried the wood to her property, stacked the pieces requiring splitting in one area (they have a log splitter) and filled her wood box on the front porch. There are other dead trees that we plan to cut up and deliver next week. She was so appreciative. We got our good deed done and had fun doing it even though it was only 25°F outside. The weather should be much better next week. My sister came home and made ham and potato soup for tomorrow’s dinner. We will be out most of the day. I was finally able to open many of your journals and will try to get to the others after dinner. The sunset is gorgeous tonight. We have plenty of leftovers for dinner. My son Jamie, Parker and his friends are helping our friend Laverne this evening. She sold her condo in NC and has to get all the contents into her MD home. She went to Momma’s on Thanksgiving when we couldn’t so the boys are more than happy to help her. Hoping you have a support system when you need it this weekend. Stay safe. Thanks so much for the hearts, stars and kind comments on my 1500th blip(s). You are a fantastic group of peeps! “A tree is known by its fruit; a man by his deeds. A good deed is never lost; he who sows courtesy reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love.” - Saint Basil
