More of the same…
If you can make this out, it’s Archie snuggled up in the big furry blanket with me all afternoon…
Well, JR was busy today - gym session, then a brunch with gym buddies, followed by a late lunch in town with ex-colleagues.
I was busy doing not much, keeping warm, coughing now and again (though not the outbursts of the past week) and watching tv. I did take Archie out midday - the weather was OK - we’ve missed out on the latest named storm to hit the UK. Some poor people are still clearing up from the last flooding a couple of weeks ago.
I finished watching a series called The Listeners’ - don’t bother. It started off well about a woman who heard humming all the time. I have sympathy with this - I can’t stand hearing the fridge at night. But it got all new-agey and daft.
I then watched an old programme (2009) with Brian Cox talking about Jute in Dundee. Elizabeth had recently visited the Jute Museum in Dundee and said it was fascinating. Actually, he just started in Dundee, where both his parents worked in the mills, but then went to Calcutta, where all the jute mills are now. Raw jute had been imported from Calcutta. but by that time (40s/50s) India was building its own jute mills. Many Dundonians went to India to run the mills.
Now watching the official opening of the five year restoration of Notre Dame. Well done, France!
I have stopped comments for a while. You have been very kind, with your sympathies for my cough, but it’s just gone on too long. I’ll be back when I stop coughing!
