Christmas cup

Another entry in my Christmas coffee cup series. I had brought it home from work earlier in the week for snapping. That was just as well as there was no way I was venturing out today to snap anything as the wind has been awful thanks to the arrival of Storm Darragh.

Our poor garden Pigeon couple were hanging on for dear life to the bare oak tree branches at the bottom of the garden (extra) as it swung back and forth.

Some parts of Cully are without power, but luckily other than a few flickering lights episodes we have hung on to ours.

Ian had to brave the roads as he was heading home from Surrey. Thankfully, he managed that without incident,  and as it is mainly a motorway route there was less chance of trees being a hazard.

A fair few trees have come down on the local roads which probably explains the various power cuts. Leo’s girlfriend in the next village over has a power cut too. If it doesn’t come back tonight she may pop to us early in the morning so she can get herself sorted for work.  She has to get a load of makeup and costume on so she can spend the day as an elf, entertaining the kids at a local soft play centre.  I don’t think she can face the thought of trying to do all that in a cold dark house - and who can blame her!  Hopefully the winds will die down overnight so she can safely travel to us through the lanes en route to work.

Hopefully the wind should abate overnight and we can have a calmer day tomorrow,  it will be nice to step outside after a day of hunkering down.
