Angel
We walked down into Wadebridge this morning, picked up a snack, then headed off to walk along the Camel Trail to Padstow. The path follows the route is an old railway line by the River Camel. As walkers we were very much in the minority, as literally hundreds of people cycled past us. The weather was quite overcast, but pleasant enough. We had some very lovely views over the river to the estuary.
Padstow was mobbed. We had a very quick look around. TT bought a new pair of sunglasses, then we bought a couple of pasties and then left. We had a plan for a walk off the Camel Trail, but first we had to retrace our steps a bit. We found our route and followed part of the Saints Way, up and around Little Petherick Creak. The route took us up a hill to an obelisk, which is where we are our pasties, which we’re quite disappointing. Given how busy Padstow was, we met very few people on this walk. We met a group of three twice as they were doing our walk but in the opposite direction. In addition we met one woman on her own, and one woman walking her dog.
At times it felt we were away in the back of beyond, but we knew that Padstow was but a stones throw away. Even though we were following a well signed route, we got a little lost as we were nearing the Camel Trail, and we were struggling to find the right path to re- join it, but third time lucky and we made it. The Trail was much quieter as we walked back to Wadebridge, and there were a few other walkers and runners.
We went to a rather nice restaurant for tea. Fabulous food, fabulous service and a lovely atmosphere. We felt rather down at heal in our walking gear, but we had a lovely meal which we had earned.
We then walked back up the hill to our hotel, stopping to buy a couple of beers on the way. I had over 50,000 steps today!
This beautiful Angel is in the church in Little Petherick, which we visited on our walk this afternoon. The extras are views over the River Camel.
