Winter Wonderland
I really could not sleep last night thinking of our mother out in the hall seeing all the sick and injured folks going in and out of the ER. We called the hospital as soon as we thought she was awake. We were thrilled to speak with Momma from her private room. She was completely coherent but a bit tired. Mancil, Madi, and our DIL Renee all visited her. Renee took her an assortment of soft foods and drinks plus puzzle books and pencils. Mancil found the Hallmark channel so she’d have a distraction. He sent us selfies of him and Momma. Our cousin Barb went over after work and carried coffee and a donut. She is a nurse and spoke with Momma about the importance of going to the rehab center to strengthen her legs so she can remain mobile. Momma understood and agreed with that possibility. Sister Barb and her husband also visited. All news from the hospital was encouraging. My family is being so kind to visit Momma between meetings and classes. The snow started early this morning while temps were above freezing. It really did not stick on road surfaces. But it was beautiful to watch. We cleaned the refrigerators, I made turkey salad, hubby did more laundry and our BIL cleaned the garage. We decided to go to the next town to our south. We enjoyed the bountiful buffet at their most popular restaurant. We took a different, longer route home where the roads are better. We delivered Christmas gifts to Edna today because the temps will drop significantly tomorrow and since it is still snowing, the roads might get dicey. My sister says the ground is completely covered now. We are enjoying a quiet evening and will probably skip dinner. Wishing you the same. Stay safe. Thanks for your visit. “Kindness is like snow.
