Quilt Number Two

Our plan was to finish all the jobs today so we could rest before going home. We called our mother around 9:00. She was just waking up since a nurse was checking her. We talked for 90 minutes until her mind cleared a bit. She was anxious because her memory is so confused. At least she recognizes it. Our cousin visited her soon after we hung up. He called later with an update. We were partly successful with cleaning. Hubby did more laundry for everyone. Our BIL helped my sister and me with the two refrigerators and freezer. We only leave one refrigerator plugged in so we had to reorganize it to store everything we are leaving behind. We divided what was left between us to take home. Hubby helped me update our 8 page food inventory spreadsheet (he read/I typed). I wrapped the remaining gifts and got everything ready for the car. The wind chill was -6°F this morning. Nothing will even go in the garage until maybe tomorrow night. My sister vacuumed, I dusted, hubby looked for webs and our BIL straightened their level. I was putting our clean clothes away when my sister got a call around 4; my phone’s signal was too weak. Sky and Mack went to see our mother and the hospital was ready to discharge her. The staff tried to contact our other MD sister but couldn’t. We knew she had a plan for our mother but weren’t sure what it was. Sky said she and Mack would stay with Momma and keep her calm until we located Barbara. We knew she had a doctor appointment in DC but weren’t sure what time. It was stressful to say the least. Sky had called all our family members when my phone didn’t answer to find out what she should do. My son was heading out of town on business. Kristen had an important after hours work meeting and Kim had a must attend evening class right after school let out. Neither of them were able to go to the hospital. Of course, everyone wanted statuses all afternoon/evening. We finally got our BIL’s phone to work and were either calling or texting for hours. Momma left the hospital with Barbara’s husband Roger around 7:00 pm and was quite happy. I informed everyone of the good news and thanked them for all they did to help this week. We made a new French recipe for dinner, Gratin Parmentier. We will definitely make it again but there were a lot of prep pans involved. We will have to finish cleaning tomorrow. I decided to share my other auction quilt with you today. Isn’t it lovely? It’s time to take a deep breath and maybe read to relax my mind. Wishing you peace and calm. Stay safe. Thanks for stopping by and being so kind. I will relay your messages once Momma is settled.
“Our family is like a patchwork quilt,
kindly & gently sewn.
Each piece is an original,
with beauty all its own.
With threads of warmth
and happiness, it's tightly stitched together to last in love throughout the years. Our family is forever!” - Unknown
