Christmas Cards
I am having a busy time at home today and little time to think about my daily blip image. And so ……
I heard today that the government has OK’d the acquisition of Royal Mail by a Czech billionaire, it’ll all be sorted in January. Since their formal separation and privatisation in 2014 neither the Post Office nor Royal Mail has exactly basked in glory. I am now used to days with no mail some days, and then a heap arriving on occasional days of the week. Today has been such a day - thus the blip.
Whilst writing cards can be a chore, contrarily I like receiving them. Friend M, who is very Irish, was telling me last week that in Ireland the tradition - which many still hold to - is not to send cards to people who have been bereaved that year. That seems a bit cruel to me. It’s the only way contact with some friends is maintained long term. I’m also discovering through receiving cards that in all the confusion and upset at the beginning of the year that I failed to let a couple of friends know about J, so I am rectifying that. It’s not the easiest of Christmas’s.
