Carols in the Pub
This was how we spent our evening tonight. For a number of years now, practically 10 when I think about it, the local churches have organised a scratch choir to sing carols in the pub for around 90 minutes - with a break. The audience join in and the pub lays on mulled wine and mince pies with donations towards the cost going to a children's charity. I do enjoy a good sing. We had children in the audience playing jingley bells for us. Our MSP showed up to join in the singing, I have to say he does work hard , he lives locally and regularly turns up to local events without any fuss.
The rest of the day? Busy as ever, I went to Tesco and picked up the biggest turkey crown they had along with some other odds and ends. When I got back I put lots more lights in the front garden. I love the battery operated ones. They have a timer and come on at the same time every afternoon for 6 hours then go off for 18 hours with no intervention from me. Last year, one set of batteries lasted the whole Christmas period so that was a bargain. I have about 4 sets of coloured lights which bound the garden and are mainly visible from the house.
I also cleared the little ones' bookshelf in the hall and put up the Nativity scene. I wonder if Josie will remember it from last year, it will still be up when they get back.
I've started the Christmas tree decorating too, it has lights on it.
The extra is the stunning sky to the east at 8.30 this morning.
