Sound of Music

Did a bit of rewriting of my menus and shopping lists then V arrived and we set off up to Pitlochry. It was a beautiful morning….although a few clouds gathered into our clear sky as we drove north it was still a lovely bright day and the hills and trees looked beautiful as we drove (we were laughing about my Christmas tree looking like it belongs in the forests up there!)
Chatted non stop of course, catching up on how her knee is recovering (she is nearly back to normal although it’s a bit stiff), plans for Christmas, how all the family are and our Vietnam trip which will come zooming towards us as soon as Christmas is over.
We arrived in time for lunch in the cafe and really enjoyed it - they’d honed the service to a fine art. The river just outside the windows was looking very full and fast and we enjoyed the view then a browse around the foyer shop before going into the auditorium which was packed! Apparently the show has been sold out almost every performance.
It was brilliantly done, with most of the actors not only also singing but playing instruments in the band when not acting. Maria was played by the same actor who played Carole King when we came for that show…wonderful singer…and the children were pitch perfect too. They’d very cleverly adapted the story and songs from the film, and the simple revolving stage was very effective as a set.
We really enjoyed it, and it was slightly less chaotic getting out of the car park than last time so a great afternoon all round!
We stopped at Winsford’s for me to drop off a card but unfortunately no one was in so couldn’t say hello, then we drove home with more chat and I dropped V at her house.
Home and chatted to A as she went home late after her last day at work before the holiday. She’d made a huge pavlova Christmas tree (extra) for their shared Christmas lunch and it looked amazing.
