The second cake

Steve had made a second cake, huge, from a Delia Smith recipe but with gf flour and Xanthan gum. He marzipanned it on Monday, and I had just enough icing sugar to make a rudimentary covering (top only). Having little wooden ornaments on top is what counts, in my book. I had to ribbon the side, as you can see. 

I also expanded the dining room table and got in a few chairs from the cabin for tomorrow's meal. Marshalled all the bits and pieces we'd need for the festive spread. Then we had a cosy night in. I was so tired that I was in bed before it was actually Christmas day!
