James and Thomas - ready to go!

We got out earlier today as it looked brighter up in the mountains so it seemed good sense to make the most of our last day.

When we got to the gondola we couldn’t see the end of the queue (we were told it would be about 2 hours long) so we headed for the Crystal Ski depot where we bought an equivalent of priority boarding. We gave the rep 20 lev each and he took us round the back where some of it was handed over to the security man and we by-passed the queue. It felt bad, almost like going private in NHS. Now I know I have suspect morals. The family had gone earlier and had done the same. By the time we’d cruised down a few green runs daughter and the boys had been up to the highest blue and met us at the button tow. They joined us in the queue - it was long - 15-20 minutes wait - as daughter wanted the boys to have had a ski with grandparents.

After lunch they decided to ski the 6km blue back to town. Mr C thought he’d go too but after swithering I said no. Phil and I went safely back by gondola whereas Mr C had painful falls due to icy conditions. The others were fine, though the boys are tired. James had a lie down in the snow, feeling sad to have had his last ski. They have gone to the old town to spend their holiday money. Mr C is resting as he’s worn himself out and I’m going for a swim.

It’s been a successful week!
