Newlands Valley
The weather forecast was not brilliant today but it's just as well we ignored it as it turned out to be a cracker. The air was clear and the sun and clouds gave beautiful areas of contrasting shadow over the fells.
I decided that this would look good in mono when I shot it. There was so much detail and contrast. In fact the green was a bit overpowering in the colour version.
This was taken on the way up Catbells. We had walked there from Keswick via Portinscale. After this we continued up onto Maiden Moor and took a very pretty (and rather hard to find) path back down to Grange where we caught the bus back to Keswick.
