Books read in 2024

We got home about 7pm last night, 9 Bulgarian time. I got the washing on and hung up on the kitchen pulley then we watched a bit of TV. We must have been tired - I woke at 7 this morning then next I knew it was 9.30.

#3 and family had an amazing time at the game reserve but disappointingly their Robben Island trip was cancelled again due to heavy seas. Instead they went to The Long Walk to Freedom outdoor exhibition. The children were impressed I’d seen Mandela and Tutu in real life - hard to think over 30 years ago now.

Mr C did some outside jobs while I made lists for our family Christmas at #2 daughter’s on 4 January. I made some brandy butter which means I’ve got no icing sugar for Nathaniel’s 11th birthday cake. We need a food shop asap! I have made an aubergine, chickpea, onion, mushroom and tomato curry for tonight. We are both looking forward to tasty, healthy food.

My blip is a list of the books (I may have missed a few and I might have time for one more) I read this year, some more enjoyable than others. Best in my opinion - Cuddy, Thunderclap and Reading Lessons. Worst - The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store and Soldier, Sailor. Most different- The Salt Houses and Nervous Conditions. Most surprisingly good - the Minnie Driver memoir. I’d be happy to have recommendations for 2025.
