Marjorie's ramblings

By walkingMarj

Top of the world!

I had a very frustrating morning. I went in to Ward 4 early so as to be there when the consultant did his ward round. He was on the ward. All good. 2 hours later a junior doctor appeared to see Margret. We both asked if the consultant was coming and she said that no, she was the one doing this half of the ward today.

He had to go early to see patients at another hospital.

I explained my concerns about Margret's eyes and asked if she would mind just checking the fundi (back of the eyes). She replied that she did not know. What? Turns out it was her first day and she did not know if the ward had an opthalmoscope. My face must have been a picture.

She examined Margret and listened to her chest through her nightie. Have I missed something here? Since when could you hear as well through clothes.

I left half and hour later. She said she had still not found the scope and she had not spoken to the consultant either.

Later on, Margret was sent for a scan, which had been one of my requests.

Even later, she heard that she will move to the Nursing Home next week. Amazing!

I dashed home, grabbed a bit of lunch, then went out to park near Limestone Corner. This is the part of Hadrian's Wall where the Romans could not move the rocks to build the wall. (It's not limestone at all.)

The view was glorious. The Cheviot Hills were covered with snow. The castle to the right of the image is Chipchase.

It was VERY cold and I was glad of my warmest winter hat.

Margret's son Kevin arrives tomorrow, so that should also help her to feel better.
