The Equalizer?
On This Day In History
1847: Samuel Colt sells his first revolvers to the U.S. government
Quote Of The Day
"I've heard it said that God made all men, but Samuel Colt made all men equal. We'd see what Mr. Colt could do for a woman."
(Cherie Priest)
I know what guns did for women. They rarely made them equal to men, they made them one of the following - a grieving widow, a grieving mother .... or dead.
Although published in 1993, Seduction Of The Gun remains, in my opinion, one of the finest Batman comics ever published. The scene when schoolboy Dwayne laughs when Kalifa, a schoolgirl whose aspirations to be a ballet dancer were ended when she was shot in the leg, explains how one politician's solution to gun crime in The Bronx was to ensure that everyone has access to a gun is, sad to say, still relevant today. Since 1993, more than one million U.S. citizens have been killed by gun crime.
The only way in which guns are an equalizer is that we all are equal under the grass.
Anyway, I set this day aside to get some work done and I was very successful; my Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake Memorial Assembly script and Google Slide written and created, my Board and Council Kahoot! made and my Governors, Owners and Leaders Child Protection Training Course completed.
More games with the family later.
