Mont Fort

Verbier is in the 4 Vallees area of the canton of Valais. Several of the ski and holiday resorts have joined together to establish a network of cable cars and telecabines so that skiers and other visitors can ride to the top of Mont Fort (3300m).

It involves 4 cable cars from Verbier and it is stunning. You can see the peaks in several Alpine ranges, including Mont Blanc, Weisserhorn and Le Massif des Combins.

My new Lumix has a panoramic setting so I tried it out from the top platform.

It's another world - or rather on the very top of our European one. I was breathless climbing the stairs on the final telecabine and its not just that I'm not fit!
