Forty winks
We had our middle son and his family for lunch today; the first time we’ve seen them since well before Christmas. Little H is now almost fully recovered from her tonsillitis, and our daughter-in-law has almost fully recovered from her two nightmare weather-affected flights to Poland and back with our two youngest granddaughters.
I would normally cope quite well with cooking lunch for eight, but today I felt so tired. I had a bad night last night, anxious about The Traveller and his girlfriend, who were out at a farewell party for a friend who’s moving to the States for a few years on business. The snow had started to fall here after they left, and after a while it began to lay on the road outside, which told me that the roads hadn’t been gritted. I did drop off, but woke at 1.00 am and went downstairs to check if they were in (they were, the Christmas lights had been turned off). However, I still didn’t sleep well for the rest of the night, which was a bit annoying.
As a result, I was fast asleep in my chair when the family went home late this afternoon and apparently I didn’t even move when my daughter-in-law’s scarf was removed from the back of my chair and my iPad was removed from my lap to stop it falling on the floor.
