Tuesday: Bramley Cooking Apples

Made compote with some of the stored Bramley apples, adding frozen wild blackberries which MrD enjoyed picking last autumn. The birds have had all the apple cores, bruised bits and will enjoy rooting around for them over next few days :-)

Chopped up another chunk of red cabbage, sliced it thinly and packed it into a large glass storage jar, adding salt which will remove some of the excess moisture - will leave it for a few days … then rinse the salt off, dry the cabbage then add some cider vinegar with herbs and spices.

The Half Moon is so bright this evening, have managed to include teasels and our maple tree too.

Saw half a dozen goldfinch feeding on the withered teasel heads, so lovely to see them :-)
