Quite a contrast to yesterday! Taken on my way back from the market, when the sun briefly peeped through the clouds. The market was dismal. About half of the regular stallholders hadn't turned up, and nor had half the customers. There also wasn't much variety available. The fishmonger had spread his selection thinly over vast expanses of crushed ice, and some of the produce stalls were similarly bare. I suppose it's a function of post-holiday frugality and also the time of year. Anyway, I bought what I could and supplemented it with a visit to Picard and the supermarket (which was similarly empty of customers, to my surprise).

It's so distressing to see her like this, and we are all pretty underwhelmed by the lack of support from the hospital, where she is returning tomorrow. That said, we're still glad she had a chance to come home, albeit briefly.

I left in time to get changed and head off for the first gym session of the year. We were a full house -- 14 of us, as many as the room can comfortably hold -- and A worked us hard (even if my Fitbit didn't think so). And now relax ...
