Even a 900-yr-old castles requires maintenance.
For today’s monoMonday challenge on the theme “old”. I thought I’d blip the Norman built Caerphilly Castle viewed across one of its two defensive lakes. Second only to Windsor Castle in size, it remains a well preserved castle with impressive water defences. It also boasts a tower, damaged during the English Civil War, which leans more than Pisa (on the right hand side of the photo). The scaffolding and roof cover you can see are part of the a project to rebuild the roof of the main hall.
The extra is another view from the other side looking across the other defensive lake.
Thank you Laurie for hosting this month
