Grumpy Old Man

Over the water

A cloudy day, but at least not wet, or not much anyway. Some Photo Club stuff this morning, then I went down the drive to await a lift from a fellow u3a Creative Writing Group member. Today the meeting was back on the island of Kerrera where the group leader lives out in the middle of nowhere, or so it seems to me!

We caught the 12.30 ferry from the slip on the Gallanach Road - my Blip today is of the ferry approaching. The lady in the foreground has obviously been shopping and presumably caught the infrequent bus - it's two miles from the centre of Oban.

We were picked up in a land rover and driven up the muddy tracks to the house. Just six of us this time. We had the usual ten minutes to write a story about the mystery object, this time a sort of 1920s little glittery bag on a strap. Then we all read the piece we'd written for the meeting - any subject, any format. Good fun!

Then back for the 15.20 ferry. My extra today was taken looking down the Sound of Kerrera towards the little island featured in my Blip a week ago. In five minutes we were back on the mainland and driving back towards Oban.

Quote of the day: 'We may be a small island, but we are not a small people.' -  Edward Heath.
