Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

I was lured down to the cheapy shop's 50% OFF again. I wanted to get more kitchen lights, while they were almost giving them away. But no! There was only ONE left of the kind I needed. But I got another kind, looking much the same, to try. Also got some handy things and another present for JR - a new colander (£1.99) She was delighted.

I tired to insert the new bulb in the kitchen, but couldn't manage it, so had to wait till JR came home. She managed to get it in (I don't know who invented these bulbs, but they're not simple), and it's just the same as the others. There are so many different 'white light' ones. So, I'll go back down soon and get stocked up. They're £4.50 at the local hardware, but pennies here... There are 16 in the kitchen, so I'm saving heaps. The '16 years' life span claim on the box is a blatant lie.

On the way back home, I passed a cafe I used to pop into, and it's now, weirdly, a ‘make your own bag’ venue. A cafe on one side, and in the other side were a dozen people participating in a bag making class. The bags are already made, all shapes and sizes, so you choose your basic bag, then screw on a piece of Harris Tweed and a handle to make it uniquely yours.

While I was waiting for the bus, I spotted this glorious set up in a cafe - a gin distillery, and a thing of beauty. I'd love this in my lounge!
