Heirloom

When he left Mull bound for Canada back in 1921 my Grandfather was presented with a gold pocket watch by a group of local people who knew him and I still have this watch. The back of the watch is beautifully engraved with his initials but I think it’s the internal workings that really steal the show, although very few folk will have seen them.

The day was taken up with shopping, library and a meeting that went on far longer than I expected.

PS My Grandfather returned to Mull after 2 years in Canada which is just as well because, otherwise, I probably would never have existed.
