Eccup
Not a Yorkshire expression but the name of this reservoir near Leeds.
First walk of 2025 with the Pudsey Ramblers.
A beautiful sunny day. Felt more like spring.
A good turnout of 16. I think we were all glad to get out walking again after all the snow and ice.
However it meant that parts were very muddy or waterlogged.
See first extra.
The main photo was of the reservoir most the ice had melted.
It was a 6 mile circular walk which set off at Adel Woods Car Park. Not one of our best walks as some was on roads, but that avoided lots of mud.
We finished off at York Gate Cafe.
Second extra.
A place fellow blipper Mambo knows well. I was surprised that the cafe was open as the gardens were still closed for winter.
We just managed to get a table for us all as it was very busy.
One or two of us had cakes to go with or tea or coffee. Absolutely huge portions! No wonder it is a popular cafe.
Perfect weather for walking. Strange to have sunglasses on as well as my summer walking hat to keep the sun off. Also put some sun cream on my face.
Unfortunately the drive home took forever as the roads round Leeds city centre were almost gridlocked.
We were surprised that at 4.30pm the temperature was 9C.
