Sometimes the drama is in the sky

Whilst out on a walk I was taken by all the activity in the sky. Sun, blue sky, grey clouds, shining clouds. Some clouds swiftly moving, other clouds seemingly stationary.
Here on the ground it was mild (+5°C) and there was no wind. In places the road was icy, in other places the snow and ice had melted away completely. It feels like spring is here, but we all know it isn't - winter will return!
After a few days of being a bit out of sorts I was finally back to feeling my normal self. This walk was the furthest I've been for a week and I felt good, even on the steep pull back up to the village. Long may it last!
It was warm enough to actually sit out for a few minutes on the bench behind the house, next to the bird feeder. The birds were a bit iffy about feeding with me sitting there but the tits soon returned. As I sat and watched and listened there were a whole lot of birds around and about. Here's the list of what flew by in ten minutes...
Tree sparrow, blue tit, greenfinch, hooded crow, jay, great tit, waxwing, magpie, chaffinch, and bullfinch. That's quite a list for somewhere this snowy!
On Monday the thermometer finally sinks below freezing and stays there for a while, and we get a few days with light snow falling. That's more like it; the return of winter!
The extra shows the edge of the trees, where I was taken with the different colours in this bit of forest.  The fir trees are their dark green, the light green "bush" is actually the crown of a fallen dead tree, lying towards me. The colour comes from the moss growing on every branch and twig. The deciduous trees on the right are all fringed with red which is the newest growth.
