Scavenger
A busy day getting lots of job done, culminating in a surprise visit from our middle son and youngest granddaughter at supper time. Despite having eaten at home half an hour beforehand with his wife and children, our son still managed to join us and put away a bowl of pasta prepared by Chef Smithers!
Much schoolboy banter and hilarious laughter ensued between sons #2 and #3, with The Traveller’s girlfriend looking from one to the other, utterly bemused. It went right above our heads, we don’t catch what they say any more, they talk so fast!
Not much time for photos today, so this squirrel is the best I can manage. He’s probably just gearing himself up to try and fling himself on the fat ball feeder, which I’ve deliberately sited at the end of a slender branch of the twisted hazel. The small, lightweight birds can sit happily and peck at the fat balls, but the weight of the squirrels sends the branch bouncing up and down and hopefully reduces the amount of food they can scavenge.
