Glass Balloons...

Visited the Basilica di San Marco today including the Pala d'Oro and the terrace where you get great views of the Piazza below. Very impressive if a little over the top in the amount of gold used inside the basilica. Headed up to see the Ponte Accademia, an old wooden bridge over the grand canal. Then for the obligatory gondola ride which was very enjoyable, around the side canals then out on to the grand canal for a stretch. The 'young' ones were flagging so back to the hotel for a rest before heading out for dinner and more walking...
