Front yard cottonwood

A very cold, gloomy day. I just popped out the front door and took this photo looking up at the huge cottonwood in the front yard. It has the stark feeling that I'm feeling today.
A very dear friend has been in and out of the hospital. He just came home midweek and is back in the hospital as of Saturday night. He just can't catch a break. He has a chronic cancer and also some other health issues. He just doesn't have much meat on his bones. I don't think he is going to be with us too much longer. It makes me so sad.
I put a photo from his retirement/birthday party from last April. He was whacking away at a pinata and it was so much fun.
