Capture...

Today we connected the drain for the car port to the water butts and a soak-away we've built. It wasn't too messy to do in the end. The three 330 litre water butts give us around one tonne of water storage, and any more is redirected into a 100 litre "tank" we're using as a soak-away. The soak-away is buried to the right of the picture. The wall isn't flat or vertical, so it was all rather an interesting challenge...

The change from what we had before is that now we have the home made soak-away there is a 100 litre hole come holding tank where the water goes rather than just into the flower bed, which should get the water lower into the ground and allow it to soak away slowly rather than just making the bed wet and leaking into the car port all at once.
