With plenty of warning, including several red alert alarms on the phone, we prepared for the impending storm.  Pans and buckets of water, food from the freezer, candles gathered also a couple battery operated lights and torches charged.  The wind increased to full force by mid afternoon, we looked on as the birch trees swayed madly in the wind, it was surprising how far the trunk could lean in the wind and return upright. Thank goodness for the wood burning stove.  Come  4.00pm it all kicked in as the power was cut.
