Special Offer!
Now there's an offer I think I can refuse.
Today we both went to the dentist which, for most people, isn't anything special but for us, it's a 250 mile round trip. We tried a local dentist when we first moved here but it was right in the middle of Covid and we didn't warm to them, so ended up going back to our old practice. Normally it's no big deal because we book a hotel for the night and arrange to meet up with old friends but this time it didn't come together so we ended up doing the round trip in the day.
We took the opportunity to visit the Milton Keynes shopping centre for a look round and also drove through our old village. We knew MK was expanding over on 'our' side of the M1 motorway (indeed, it was one of the reasons we moved away) but it was quite shocking to see how much new infrastructure had been built, and two massive warehouses in what had been a horses' field heralded the changes still to come. On a more local note we were amazed at how much litter there was alongside the country roads; where we live now is thankfully litter-free by comparison but it brought back memories of one of the walks I used to do from our old house to the end of the lane and never being able to walk more than around six paces before spotting another McDonalds cup or similar item in the hedgerow.
