Water Rail #15

We have come away for a week and are staying at HPB Merlewood in Grange-over-Sands. Hopefully it will give us a bit of a boost with our bird list, which has been sadly lacking due to the weather and a week of a flu-like virus. 

We didn't leave until after lunch as I had a screening appointment to attend to. But we still had time to get some shopping at Sainsburys and then drop in at Foulshaw Moss for a few minutes on the way here. 

A good start as we added Great Spotted Woodpecker, Tree Sparrow and this very obliging Water Rail. I think it's the closest view I've had of this normally very shy secretive bird.  A very good start to the week.
