Capital adventures

Self explanatory

I woke up at 6.30 and carried on my viewing from last night.  The girls didn't emerge till 8,30.  Amelia watched the last 'Wallace and Gromit' and eventually about 9.30 we walked over to Desa Sri Hartamas for roti canai.  Amelia spent quite a lot of time talking on her watch phone - more eating and less talking would have been better.  She had her ears pierced yesterday and is very proud of the sparkly sleepers.

They rushed off to PoPo and GongGong's once we were back, a CNY visit to cousins.  I chatted to WH for a bit and then came home, for a rest before the 'big night out'.

After a fruit lunch I went to the pool and had a swim.  The water was back to be clear, therefore blue, after yesterday's green episode.  Listened to my book and the sun came out, which was a bonus.

After a shower and some food I was ready to go out.  All glammed up!  The Grab time kept changing and we had to wait for #2 son and S to appear but luckily the driver didn't seem to mind.

The Selangor St Andrew's Society was at the Four Seasons, beside KLCC and the Twin Towers. I was glad I brought my wrap, the large room was airish.  Met lots of people, and that was before the meal ( we were there early).

It was a typical 'Scots expats' (or is that immigrants?) do - pipe band, choir singing Scottish songs, the speeches, haggis and a lovely meal.   The pipe band played not just Scotland the  Brave and the Black Bear but also 'Mamma Mia' and few other pop hits!  The Toast to the Lassies was given by the acting High Commissioner, frae Longniddry and the Reply by his wife the Deputy German Ambassador from Bavaria.  The Society Chieftain gave us To a Haggis and the Immortal Memory (long) by, I think, a former Chieftain.  It's difficult these days not to think of Burns reflected through the prism of current standards. And I didn't win the Moet and Chandon draw or the raffle.  And of course we followed the score and towards the end watched it live on a phone.  A good start for Scotland.

And we danced.  #2 son was calling the ceilidh dances, luckily we didn't do anything too complicated, and there was also other just dancing - 'Dancing Queen' and the Proclaimers to name but 2.  I'd have managed with bare feet but I was glad I'd bought the shoes.

And as 1 February went we were still dancing.
