Puddle reflections

Tommy had a horrendous journey to Val d'Isere yesterday. The rockfall on the road caused such traffic chaos, he was stuck in gridlocked traffic for hours and hours in Albertville trying to get there. There were so many people stuck in cars who were not going anywhere fast as night fell, that the Red Cross set up emergency shelters and were supplying water. This was some distance from where Tommy was. We kept phoning him to check on his progress - or rather lack of progress - and eventually at about 10pm after he had been driving since early in the morning we convinced him to rather check into a cheap hotel for the night rather than sitting in his car all night. Unfortunately by now all the reasonable hotels in Albertville were full, and all those in the town he had previously passed (Annecy) were also full, so he had to go all the way back to the outskirts of Geneva where Luke managed to find online a reasonable hotel for him. Thankfully he managed to get there, had a good nights sleep and then was able to try again this morning. I believe they often have rockfalls on this stretch of road (the RN 90) so one wonders why they haven't put up defense barriers for falling rocks.

Today was a glorious day, sunny with blue skies but cold and frosty. I had a lovely walk in the sunshine with Xena. I pottered about the house today doing some chores and then after lunch we went back to the woods for another walk.
