Malaga - first full day

Didn’t sleep too well! The hotel is lovely and every room has a cute cube type balcony and although it’s got double glazing or whatever on the patio door, I was focused when lying in bed by the traffic noise , which does cease around midnight but then starts around 6:30. That would have been ok but then at 1am the folks in the next room seemed to be having a party when they came back. So I decided to ask for a quieter room at reception, explaining the situation. The young lad swapped us to a different part of the hotel which overlooked the mountains and a pedestrian area below, still in the 7th floor though which I like .

We headed for our breakfast to a lovely local cafe round the corner from the hotel, which is situated in the Old Town of Malaga. Had eggs and delicious coffee.

We decided to have the first of our museum visits to the Picasso Museum. Really enjoyed it particularly the nudes exhibits on the top floor.

By the time we finished it was time to go back to the hotel and unpack our rucksacks in our new room, the view is much better for sure and quieter.

Out again and Walked up the old streets to the cathedral and got an audio guide to explain the history! It’s quite magnificent and very tall. The second tallest in Andalucia after the Giralda in Seville.

By the time we finished here we were hungry verging on hangry (me) and found a Lebanese restaurant nearby. There was another couple in and I heard her saying how much she enjoyed what she ordered so I asked her what she had.

We started speaking and they were celebrating her being granted Spanish citizenship! She is from NI so gets the EU benefits still (lucky ) and her husband was English. They have bought a place to live in further north of Malaga and will be making a life out here. His application is in so will take a wee while…..

We enjoyed our food and went for a wander and ended up at the Malaga Town museum which is housed near the front. It was quite interesting but not in my top 10.

By this time it was 5:30 and I was flagging a bit so walked back to the hotel and had a cuppa and S went to the gym there.

We had a voucher for a free drink in the lounge so spent the evening in there . I was pretty tired
