Archie’s two new friends came to take him out today, though it was quite dreich. I texted to say not to bother, but John phoned back right away and said they were still keen. Anyway, by the time they came it was dry, and they arrived suitably dressed for the day. They stayed for a coffee afterwards and he had a good report. Except at one place where he sat down and refused to move… (Extra)

In the afternoon JR wanted to pop down to the bead shop for something or other. She used to do quite a bit of bead-making a few years ago. In fact, quite a few years ago - she did it with Sue, who now lives in Brisbane and has an18 year old son! And - it’s the same owner, who also has a grown up son.

Archie and I got bored and set off home, but we popped in to Bennett’s Bar instead. I texted J and she eventually arrived there - after my half pint and bag of crisps. The wee round tables are very close to each other, so it’s impossible not to engage in conversation with the neighbours, especially if you have a dog. Talking of the Bob Dylan film, and how until recently Dylan had a property in Scotland, and we learned that Johnny Cash has family connections in Fife, and has made frequent visits.

That wee green hut is where they used to hand out golf clubs and balls for the putting green on the Links. That putting green is now spread right over the whole area, and has sneakily morphed into a small golf course, and pedestrians take their life in their hands while using the paths which cross-cross the area.

Had my first hot cross bun today.
