Ubud - Temples
Another broken night's sleep and not hungry for breakfast. If begun to regret booking a car today, thinking I could do most of the things on the way to Amed on Thursday, but I'm glad I did. It turned out really well.
My young driver,Tumara, picked me up at 9 and there first stop was the rice terraces. He explained how the rice is grown for family consumption and the encroaching developments are reducing the land available for farming. We almost were adopted by a young kitten and we're amazed at the folk (mainly women) depressing up to go in a Bali Swing. Instagram!
Next the Tirta water temple where there's was a little cal ceremony taking place. Very colourful. I bought a couple of things, doubt I haggled enough.
The last temple was closed by, down in a valley, about 400 steps down, and the same back up in the midday heat but it was all very interesting.
Got dropped off back in town and visited the Ubud Water Temple where I had to wear the temple sarong, not mine. Many lotus flowers and has lunch in the Lotus Café.
After that to look for earrings for Mei Mei. Successful but when I came out it had started to rain and in 5 minutes by times I got to end of Jalan Bisma it was full blown thunder, lightening and a tropical downpour, so ducked into the nearest restaurant for coffee and dessert till 4 when it has eased enough to tackle the flooding and get back to my room.
Like yesterday layon the balcony, watching the birds and the squirrel but at least my legs weren't dirling today.
Now back from dinner and a French inspired restaurant. Had the fizz I didn't get yesterday and settling down for the night.
