Life is a Challenge!

LOOK AWAY...

...if you don’t like needles!  I had a call from our surgery yesterday to say that they weren’t happy with my potassium levels, so could I go back and have another blood test.  The receptionist mentioned that I needed to be hydrated, so from 6 until 10 last night, I drank over 2 litres of water, which of course, necessitated lots of trips to the bathroom during the night.  There was an appointment free at 10.20 this morning so between 7 and 10 I drank another 2 litres - and decided that if that didn’t do it, then nothing would!  I also put the heat pad onto my arm prior to going and M.,the Care Co-ordinator, as she was called, was impressed with all I had done!

I told her that “left was best” so she said she would find the smallest needle she could and got the blood flowing straightaway.  I explained about Blip and she was happy for me to take photographs, as long as she wasn’t in them and no names could be seen, which of course, I readily accepted.

Mr. HCB had had a shower last night and part of the plaster on his head had come off.  It does look a bit of a mess - as it would with 11 stitches!  He came in with me and although M couldn’t advise him about his head, she asked H. one of her colleagues to come and look, which she did - and told him to keep it covered until the stitches were taken out next week.  All in all a very good appointment.

On our way out, I happened to see the various phials, or vacucontainers, as they are called - and as a nod to Abstract Thursday, where the theme is “Patterns” as I’m not at the Community Fridge today, took a shot of these and added them to my collage.

After that, and as it was such a mucky day, we decided to treat ourselves to a coffee at Jack’s and decided to have a toasted teacake, and very nice it was too.  Having lost almost an armful of blood, after two lots have been taken within a few days, I hope that the teacake will help to replenish my blood supply but thinking about it, perhaps I should have had a banana instead to “up” the potassium levels, although a bit late now after the event!

Now back home where Mr. HCB is finishing off a jigsaw puzzle and I am about to do some sewing.  Thank you for all your kind comments this week - we have both much appreciated your care and concern;  I think I am fairly up to date with comments.  Enjoy the rest of your day.  M xx
