At the Dark Peak Photo Festival (Lite), Glossop
A sunny day out in Glossop! I haven't been out of the house/garden for weeks (or so it feels). The chest infection isn't quite defeated but I'm coughing less and the other symptoms have quietened down.
So Richard and I drove over to Glossop, where I knew one of my photographs was on display in a shop window, as part of a small, local festival (in one of the extras I"m standing beside it, squinting into the sun - mine is the seaside image).
There's a very dedicated group of photographers in Glossop, who started up a large photo festival there last year. They're hoping to run another large one in 2026, and are busy trying to raise funds. So this year there's been a small, interim event - a few workshops, and their trademark 'open call': photographers can submit images on a theme, and those selected go on display in shop windows. It's win-win: more visitors to the town centre shops, and an opportunity for photographers in any genre, and with any level of experience, to get some work seen.
In the extras I've added a couple of other shots of two of Glossop's lovely independent shops. The bookshop is a community one, staffed by volunteers.
But today's main goes to a mural we saw in passing - I couldn't resist this one, Viviennne Westwood seeming to glance quizzically at the array of adverts next to her.
