Looking
Our neighbours have a field which I call “The Park”. In Victorian times, a large and turretted house looked down on it over a “ha-ha”, a view which stretched down between an avenue of trees towards the distant hills. There are still many old trees, beneath which sheep usually graze, but just now the gate is wide open and the field is empty, so it’s a perfect place to let Jess run around, while I enjoy the view.
Some years ago, a very large pine tree came down in a storm. The branches were cut but the bulk of the trunk was left. It is hollow, and the bark has come off. I think it looks like a whale with one huge eye…
It was a lovely sunny day today and I was glad to be at home, free to do some gardening in the afternoon. The light really is returning :-)
