Whooping Cranes

While there has been much to photograph here along the South Texas Coast, the primary reason we are here is to see the endangered Whooping Cranes, which are the largest birds in North America, with a height of 5 feet and a wingspan of 7 feet. 

In 1941 there were only 21 Whooping Cranes left and due to conservation efforts, there are around 600 today.  I have included a few other shots of this magnificent bird.
