Entente Cordiale
This is a photo of the local Lebanese Restaurant, Beirut, housed on the ground floor of an old iconic Scottish building with a crow step roof. I pass it almost daily on my route from the busy Nicolson Street shops to George Square but have never really taken time to register how pleasing it is to the eye.
Somehow I expected it to a bit warmer this morning than it was. My bare legs can register the temperature just as efficiently as my phone. The latter said ‘feeling like -2° and my legs agreed.
The sea was calm and cold (4.9°) and the tide was out beyond the groyne making for a long walk, but the sun made it all so much more inviting. Someone said we were in the water for almost 10 minutes which given the temperature felt a good length of time.
The bus journey to Porty took 12 minutes longer than usual because of two sets of road works at busy crossroads with 4 way lights and the return journey took 70minutes altogether just because the tail backs were so long . It wouldn’t be much quicker in a car although there would be no stopping at each of the 21 bus stops en route.
I was very surprised to see the balconists on site for the second day running. I’m sure it was pure coincidence and had nothing to do with yet another nippy letter from me to the site management but someone actually remembered about the leaking pipe and has cleaned the affected joint and sealed it. There’s now just the problem of the broken support collar. The main man said he would get another one tomorrow……….
