Auctioneer business (again!)
We broke our journey home today three times: (1) to eat our sandwiches at Washington service station; (2) to visit Mummy hazelh with our niece Ailish, who lives near to Mummy hazelh's care home; and (3) to check the quantity of unsold junk antiques and artwork from Mummy hazelh's house that we three sisters need to retrieve from the auctioneer (or dump).
My blip shows one pile of items at the auctioneer's warehouse. There is another stack that comprises furniture. Mr hazelh and I managed to collect a few of the pictures. We prioritised for now the ones that are most desirable (in our opinion).
Unfortunately, the glass in the frame of the one that we most wanted to bring up to Edinburgh has somehow been smashed since it was removed from my mother's house. We have left it behind for the auctioneer to fix, and will go back to fetch it once it is ready. A return trip by car will also give us the opportunity to make a longer visit to Newcastle together. We will stay overnight with Ailish and her boyfriend Danny in their flat in Gosforth, which we saw for the first time today.
It's been a great weekend, but we are so glad to be home to our big bath, our kingsize bed, and our chilled window-always-open bedroom. We have struggled to sleep the past three nights due to the washing and sleeping arrangements at our weekend accommodation: shower-only, and a minuscule (to us) double bed in an overheated room.
Exercise today: small amount of walking (7,114 steps).
