Indoor blip on an outdoor day
I was supposed to go to Beamish outdoor museum today but when I woke before 7 to get ready I realised that after a busy week I didn’t really want to go. It was going to be a hot sunny day so the idea of 3 hours in a car didn’t appeal and neither did conversing with people I barely knew. (I usually would have enjoyed getting to know them better but time with Mrs Orwell’s Invisible Life in the garden was more tempting.) Also they were dressing up as Edwardian women and I’d had no time or interest in sorting all that out.
We aren’t happy with the mess the workmen left and the glass roof which we thought would be more tinted allows the sun to glare in - no good in a dining room having sun in the eyes. I don’t know if we’ll can get blinds owing to the shape of the panes.
I forgot to say yesterday that when I saw Ella briefly before she went for a sleepover she noticed she’s now taller than me - at newly 13 she is 5’7”. She said “you know I’m not religious but I have given up something for Lent - guess what?” I suggested biscuits. No. Being mean to her brother? Of course not - a step too far! She’s limiting herself to 30 minutes a day on the phone.
I’m writing this in the garden wearing a t shirt. I couldn’t take an outdoor photo as it’s hazy. But weather is expected back to the usual grey mizzle tomorrow.
