Back to the playground
First of all, let’s hear it for the weather - some lovely Spring sunshine! We all know that this first real taste of spring is often a false friend and we can soon be plunged back into winter, as is about to occur later this week but when we get it it is such a boost. And on a Sunday too!
Rory got to it and stacked the logs that were delivered yesterday, Ivy chasing him out of his bed quite early and then promptly getting into it. We had a planned power cut today and the power clicked off at 9am as foretold. Scheduled until 5pm so there was no choice but to get out and forage for lunch and fun elsewhere. We went over to Staunton Country Park and paid the extortionate amount to take us all in. The children were delighted that Rory joined as well. We bought the feed and dutifully fed the goats, the alpaca, the sheep. No lambs yet as implied on the website. We then went to the playground which the children loved and we kept congratulating ourselves on not having to stand there in the rain.
Rory headed off to have lunch with Jono, Anthony and Granny and I took the others to the station after lunch at the playground picnic tables. Not bad food actually!
I got home and flopped a bit - dying for the power to come back on so we could have some tea. It actually came back at 4pm, so a bit early but unfortunately caused chaos in our electrics which sent V into a decline but also a frenzy of diagnostics. Something kept tripping everything and by process of elimination he isolated it to the immersion heater. So by about 7pm, almost everything was up and running and we were able to make some supper and watch some soothing cosy crime. We finished off the BBC Agatha Christie which looked very expensive and glossy but was actually a rather feeble story with a lame performance from Anjelica Huston. When you think of the British grand dames who could have centred the story so much more effectively…. Also I am still not entirely sure what happened in the end…
