Expedition

I started the day doing some routine admin and tidying and trying to pin down #1 son.  I did, kind of.

It didn't look like it was going to be a pool day, too cloudy, so I set off on an expedition.  First by Grab to Publika.  Only my second visit there this time, and the first was just before Christmas on our unfulfilled quest for turkey.  I didn't go round BIG, only to the entrance, which is filled with Hari raya gifts and cookies, same as CNY ones but different branding!  There is an interesting juxtaposition about a community who are not eating or drinking from 7.20 a.m. to 7.20 p.m. being surrounded by food.  I had a wander round the aisle stalls and bought a couple of things.  The main stalls (extra) are clothes and jewellery as, a bit like Christmas, you buy new clothes and get dressed up for Eid.

Then, after consulting the  Moovit app, I crossed the road and caught the T852 to Semantan MRT and thence to TRX Mall.  Realised that the initial fare for the feeder bus is RM3 but there is a RM2 refund when you alight.  Must be to do with starting/stopping at the MRT station.

The TRX Mall only opened a year ago.  It has a very glitzy, Samsung sponsored MRT station, and is definitely high end.  But it also wasn't very busy and unlike every other Malaysian Mall I've been in seemed to devoid of F&B outlets, and I was hungry.  The 'Dining Terrace'  seemed to have a closed restaurant, an expensive Mexican and Kenny Hills Bakery.  I opted for the latter but walked out when no-one came to take my order.  Didn't fare better at the next place which didn't have what I wanted.  So Malaysia.

Decided to head back to Bukit Bintang which became a mission in itself as twice I got on the wrong train and had to come back.  My own stupidity but not helped by the way the lines are set out and that 2 lines had the same ultimate destination.  That lost we a good amount of time.

By the time I got to 'my' restaurant in Jalan Alor it was nearly 3 and I was hungry but my meal of choice had been changed slightly.  The petai beans I like had been replaced by French beans, still ordered it though, with a heap of fried rice and a beer. By the time I finished Jalan Alor was being set up for the night street food market.  Then I had a walk back to Pavilion and looked at their decorations before a few more purchases in another, less high end, mall.

I got back to Semantan in time to have coffee and a cake in another Kenny Hills Bakery outlet and then got the 5 p.m. bus back to Mont Kiara.  It was slow, rush hour.  I think my total expedition cost me less than £2.90; £1.64 on Grab and the rest on public transport.

Back at HK I read my book.  There were no plans for dinner as WH was working late and the Olivia was making mac and cheese for the girls.  There was a real upset when they came back from the play park as Amelia wouldn't come up and Olivia was very upset and stressed.

I came back to a foodless apartment, but I didn't really need food, and then went for a moonlight swim (it was lovely) before watching TV.  I started on the new series of Ten Pund Poms but gave up and watched some more Point Zero.  Luckily the internet was stable, and then I went to bed!
