Sunbathing Rosie
Sunshine all day long today - not a cloud in the sky! Spent most of the day outside, some of the time pruning then cutting up the prunings into small pieces that I'll load into the car and take to the dump later in the week and some of the time sitting in the sun with a book. I put the thermometer in the sunshine beside me to see what temperature I was sitting in - 30 degrees! I've just finished Alexander McCall Smith's latest novel - 'The Conditions of Unconditional Love'. We're both fans of the man, but I like the Isabel Dalhousie novels best, set in Edinburgh. I don’t know how he manages to write so many books!
This morning two ladies drove up to take away the last seedlings of a plant that I’ve promised not to name again! I had to give directions over the phone as I wasn’t going to sit up in the car park a third time! I still have a couple that I’ve potted and will deliver next time I’m going in the right direction, and one that I’ve taking to my brother next week. Whatever will I talk about then? Lupins?
So quiet this afternoon - the only sound was the cooing of the collared doves. Wonderful! Even Rosie was content to sunbathe! Did a bit more potting up before coming indoors. Must do some more planting this year - a lot more!
Quote of the Day: ‘A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.’ - Greek proverb.
