Let's go fly a kite
Another practically cloudless day today, totally blue, through and through. I dressed for a gardening day, then remembered that it was the Photo Club AGM this evening and as Competition Secretary I needed to produce a report. I had begun a while ago and forgot to continue, so that was Number One. Having finished that I had a short repotting session before lunch.
I had planned to go for a walk this afternoon, but as MrsM had got a lift to her class I took the car and drove along to Ganavan Sands, Oban's beach, just 10 or 15 minutes along the seafront. I sat on the sand with my back to the wall and read a book for half an hour, then went for a wander beyond the beach and along the rocky shoreline.
During WW2 Ganavan played a significant role in various activities, including a Flying Boat Maintenance Unit, a Royal Navy Signal Station, and an Anti-Submarine Indicator Loop. You can still see the remains of buildings along the top of the beach. Fairly quiet today, with maybe a dozen folk playing with their dogs. Two guys were trying without a great deal of success to fly a kite - there was very little wind! My Blip today. A few families were out with young children, but many others were just sitting in their cars, some with the engines running! What a waste of a sunny day!
Back home to a cuppa on the deck and a few more pages of my current book.
